IF ONE THING MATTERS - A Film About Wolfgang Tillmans

cinema Modernissimo

When does a photograph become a work of art? When does the banal take on meaning? Through the camera and impromptu interviews, Heiko Kalmbach portrays Wolfgang Tillmans following him for four years between England, Germany and the United States: from setting up his exhibitions to the most everyday moments, while preparing breakfast, watering the plants or taking the subway. \n The film, which takes up the title of Tillmans' first major solo exhibition 'if one thing matters, everything matters' at the Tate Gallery in London (2003), immerses us in the creative process of one of the most influential photographers of our time, showing how the eye can transform reality into vision.
