Koolhaas Houselife | Oslavia, the Cave of the Past Future

cinema Modernissimo

The April invitation to Modernissimo is dedicated to two films by Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine, whose entire production was recently acquired by MoMA. They are the authors of innovative cinematographic works: with a profoundly subjective approach - on the fringes of documentaries and video art - the duo undermines the usual representation of contemporary architecture, placing at the forefront the relationship between space and those who inhabit it. \n Koolhaas Houselife (2008) (58') offers an unusual look at iconic architecture. The Maison in Bordeaux - built in 1998 by Rem Koolhaas/OMA - is explored through the unprecedented perspective of the ruler Guadalupe Acedo and the other people who take care of the building on a daily basis. \n OSLAVIA - The Cave of the Past Future (2021) (17') is a journey into the home-atelier in Rome where Giacomo Balla spent the last thirty years of his life. Invited by the MAXXI curatorial team, Bêka & Lemoine reconstruct its memory, transmitting the sense of wonder of the first explorers in a soundproofed place.
