Wolfgang Laib. Without Time. Without Place. Without Body | Ettore Spalletti

cinema Modernissimo

A new appointment at the Modernissimo cinema aimed at contemporary art: on 20 March, Palazzo Bentivoglio invites the free screening of two documentaries dedicated to Wolfgang Laib and Ettore Spalletti, essential and profound voices of recent decades. \nCommissioned by the Museo Novecento in Florence on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition curated by Sergio Risaliti, 'Wolfgang Laib. Without Time. Without Place. Without Body' (2021) (45') traces the preparation and construction phases of an ambitious exhibition project dedicated to the German artist, which involved places of extraordinary historical and artistic value such as the Museum of San Marco and the Chapel of the Magi in Palazzo Medici Riccardi, abolishing the time distance between the Renaissance measure of Brunelleschi, Alberti, Gozzoli and Beato Angelico and the minimal power of works made with natural elements, such as pollen and beeswax. \n'Ettore Spalletti' (2019) (55') by Alessandra Galletta returns the essence of a reserved protagonist, an artist presented in his methodical and contemplative daily life. Its poetic repetition, similar to a mantra, takes place against the background of dear places: the studio in Cappelle sul Tavo, the house in Spoltore, the mountains, the sea and the Abruzzo sky, which suggest proportions and tones of his monochromes.
