Ghitta Carell's Portraits

incontri in biblioteca

A 1968 film by the Istituto Luce captures a portrait of Ghitta Carell “in front of the impressed plate, when with a long and soft mine, he corrects the inevitable failures of the lens.”
In the years between the two wars, his Roman studio was the place where the ruling class created its iconography, the models with which to offer the image of itself to the world. The volume, edited by Roberto Dulio and Maria Sica and published by Five Continents Editions, reconstructs the story of the photographer who, with her style, established herself as the most requested portrait painter of the 1930s.
